More and more photographers are publishing themselves their own books. I, for instance, made my own book for the “Unexpected Photo Essay on Cortázar, his readers and Paris“.
One of the many challenges is that it is very difficult for a potential reader to find the book as most of them are not catalogued anywhere. Or that was the case until American photographer and writer Larissa Leclair founded in 2010 the Indie Photobook Library which she defines as “an archive of self-published and indie published photobooks.” It nows counts thousands of books from all over the world.
I sent a copy of my book to be included and Leclair accepted it. This is the entry.
If you have published your own work and want to submit it to this library, you can do that following this link : www.indiephotobooklibrary.org/submissions-page
