The January/February 2014 issue of Discover magazine published one of my photos of Harald Helfgott, the Peruvian mathematician who recently demonstrated for the first time Goldbach’s weak conjecture.
You can check more info on Harald and his work on this post. I would not be surprise if in the near (very near) future Helfgott is awarded the International Medal for Outstanding Discoveries in Mathematics, AKA as the Fields Medal, the “mathematician’s Nobel Prize”.
You can buy Discover magazine (Science for the Curious) and check the special they did on prime numbers, where the photo is included. If you, like me, forgot your maths, prime numbers are those divisible only by 1 and the number itself. Goldbach’s weak conjecture states that every odd number greater than 5 can be expressed as the sum of three primes”.
